For schools and support services

Get to know each child, even when time is short.

MARBLS gives you a profile of how each child approaches tasks, along with suggestions for what to say and how to help. The profile comes from how the child plays.

Ask about MARBLS for your school or service

Each child’s profile and report, in one place.

MARBLS PORTAL for Team lets you view the profiles and reports that families share with your school or support service.

How it works

  1. Step 1The child plays MARBLSChildren can play at home, or a whole class can play at once in a school computer room.
  2. Step 2Share results with a QR codeFamilies scan your portal’s QR code from their child’s portal to share results with you. Links can be added or removed at any time.
  3. Step 3View the child’s profile and suggestionsUse the results to plan how to support the child.

Ways to use MARBLS at school

Use the results to get to know a new class, choose ways to support a student, or talk with a family.

Getting to know a new class?

Start with a profile of each student

The team portal brings together the profiles and reports students share with you, organized by group. Students can play at home or together at school. One university ran a whole cohort in a computer room in under 30 minutes.

Not sure how best to support a student?

Start with suggestions made for that student

The suggestions are based on how the student plays. Each one explains what to do, what to say, and when to help. Choose which to try based on what you see in the classroom.

Classroom supports

Choose the supports that fit what you see at school, then use the support plan page to decide which to try first.

1Write down new ideas and keep going4
What to try

Agree on a first step with Sample User. Keep a card nearby to write down new ideas, so they can finish that step before moving on.

What to say

When a new idea comes up: “Let’s write that down so you don’t forget it. What do you still need to finish before you try it?”

When to step in
  • If Sample User leaves the agreed step unfinished to follow a new idea.
  • If they keep adding new ideas to the task instead of saving them on the card.
2A heads-up before things change6
What to try

Before a task or routine changes, write a short “same / different” note with Sample User and keep it beside the work.

What to say

With the same / different note in front of Sample User: “We’re answering the same questions, but this time we’ll compare answers as a group. Let’s use the note to work out what to do next.”

When to step in
  • If Sample User keeps following the old instructions after the change.
  • If they need repeated reminders to check the note.
3A checklist before turning in work8
What to try

Give Sample User a short checklist of what the assignment must include, and time to check and add anything missing before handing it in.

What to say

With the checklist beside the finished work: “Let’s use the list to see if anything is missing. Find each part in your work before you check it off, and add anything you’ve left out.”

When to step in
  • If Sample User hands in work with parts missing.
  • If they check boxes without looking at the work.
